Sir Hans Sloane, Bart, MD, was born at Killeagh, in the north of Ireland, on the 16th April, 1660. [He was the youngest son of Alexander Sloane by his wife Sarah, daughter of the Rev d D r Hicks of Whichester(?)] Though a native of the sister island, he was of Scotch extraction; his father, Alexander Sloane [name deleted in Munk's notes], having been the head of a colony of Scots settled in.
